"STYLE WARS" ART SHOW OPENING IN ATLANTA AUG 28TH!!!

Man I had a GREAT time at this opening!!! Reconnected with my boy Brian Hebert from Southern University ( Thanks for putting me on B!!!) and met lots of cool people!!! Saw lots of great art!!! Got really great responses from folks about my work!!! They had a band too!!! It was going down in that joint!!! Big ups to Lil' bro Joe for all the pics and for getting me there 'cause it was about to go down in a majorly bad way!!! Big ups to my pops for tagging along making TONS of noise, causing CHAOS on the road and in the hotel room, and showing his support!!! That's whats up!!!!

LIVE ART AT THE "DOPE" FASHION SHOW AUG 27 TH!!

Here are some pics from my live art session at the "Dope" fashion show about two weeks ago! I had some work on display as well! I knocked these babies out in about an hour and a half! I gave one to my boy Jiggy and the other I traded with a cool artist named Lindsey!! That big yellow painting that I'm holding is the one that I chose of hers! Right after the show me, my pops, and my "adopted spiritual lil' bro" Joe drove down to Atlanta for the opening of "Style Wars", a group show that I participated in! Now, that was a crazy trip!!

WALKING WITH A PANTHER!!

I was foolin' around one day on the net and I saw this cool picture of Erykah Badu with this gigantic afro. I got inspired to draw a female character with a super-sized 'fro!! Everything about this picture fell into place really well from the thumbnail drawing to the finished piece. I did this one and the fighting spirit drawings at the same time. I'm starting to do this "assembly line" drawing process where I work on at least three pieces at the same time. What I've noticed is that the same amount of raw energy is passed on the each piece, therefore, I keep the same amount of energy flowing without stopping and completing one piece at a time. I'm starting to like this way of working and I really hope that it keeps evolving as time goes on!! I also paid homage to the L.L Cool J album title of the same name for all you Hip Hop heads out there!! Peace!!

THE FIGHTIN' SPIRITS!!!

I've always believed that the art of emceeing and the way of the samurai were one and the same. When I was rapping, I felt that I had to battle the best lyricists out there to see how good I was. Personally, the battles that I lost made me work 100x harder than I was before. I never felt ashamed of losing to a really talented emcee because when I eventually battled that cat again he had to come harder next time around!!

Hip Hop is an AGGRESSIVE art form. That is just the way it is and there is nothing wrong with that! In order to best the best you had to have a strong fighting spirit and that is one of the unique qualities one must have to push forward in this constantly evolving artform.

These three drawings represent that to the fullest. I drew them with an aggressive amount of loose energy and stayed committed to the lines I drew on the paper. Each stroke was like a sword slash. The fighting spirits in the background are different for each individual. Some are layered, some are dense, but they all represent that particular character's personality.
